Classes Offered
Dance Dimensions continues to expand our performing arts programs to make more classes available to our students. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our studio or classes.
Ballet
Primary ballet training is for students ages 3 and up. Ballet is based on techniques that have been developed over centuries and serves as a back bone for many other styles of dance. Ballet has a specific training curriculum to develop good posture, body placement, alignment, balance, strength and muscle control. It is an elegant and graceful dance art and the foundation of all dance.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop dancing was born in the 80’s in urban areas as an expressive movement paired with hip hop music. Today hip hop dancing has become a larger genre for more individualized styles like krumping or B-Boy for example. Hip hop dance is also portrayed in music videos on MTV and numerous other music videos. This class allows more freedom of movement and expression than most areas of dance.
Tap
The tap program is based on a graded system of tap for all ages. Beginning with a primary tap program ages 5 to 8, with more serious studies beginning at age 8 to teen. Specific tap steps and progressions must be acquired for each level of training. This is a great class to tap out rhythms and master the sounds from your feet to the music.
Jazz
Jazz is available for students 4 years and older with more serious studies for ages 8 through teen. Jazz is a highly energized and rhythmic style of dance that was born in America. Jazz technique involves sharp isolated movements combined with coordination, flexibility and strength. The influence of musical styles past and present, current social & cultural influences, all make up the energy of jazz.
Lyrical/ Contemporary
These classes are offered to experienced ballet students. Lyrical is an advanced style of dance that borrows the techniques of ballet, jazz and modern. The quality of movement is closely connected to the quality of the music and the interpretation of the lyrics to convey the emotion or story of the song. Contemporary is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music.
